How to Remove and Install Your Yanmar YM Series Loader
Your Yanmar YM Series tractor loader is great for digging, leveling, snow removal, and other jobs around your property. However, there will be times when you don’t want or need to operate your machine with a loader, or want to swap it out with other attachments.
Here’s how to safely remove and reinstall your loader in a few easy steps.
Before You Get Started: Prepare Your Tractor
The steps below should be performed with the engine running at idle. The bucket—or other attachment—should be on the loader frame. Park your tractor on flat, hard ground. Make sure that both the bucket and the loader are firmly resting on the ground.
How to Remove Your Yanmar YM Series Loader
Start the engine and engage the parking brake. Make sure all levers are in the neutral position. Next, raise the boom until the loader stands can be used. You can now shut off the engine.
- Remove Hairpin Clip. Remove the hairpin clip from the clevis pin on the loader stand in the up position. Lower the loader stand to the weight-bearing position.
- Align Loader. Position the loader stands to align the lower stand hole to the bearing position hole.
- Install Clevis Pin and Hairpin Clips. Install the clevis pin and hairpin clips in the bearing position hole. Be sure to do this on both sides of the loader stand.
- Lower the Boom. Start the engine at idle speed. Using the loader control lever, lower the boom until the loader stands are in contact with the ground.
- Dump the Bucket. Dump the bucket until the tip of the bucket rests on the ground. Continue dumping the bucket until pressure has been reduced on the front wheels. Remove the lock pins from the mast assemblies.
- Separate the Mast Assembly. Pull the implement control lever backward in the lift direction to angle the support. Carefully move the control lever toward the left to curl the bucket until the mast assembly is separated from the loader mount. Continue curling the bucket until the entire lower portion rests on the ground. You can now shut off the engine.
- Disconnect Hydraulic Quick Couplers. Move the loader control lever in all directions to release hydraulic pressure. Next, you can safely disconnect the four hoses from the hydraulic quick couplers. If a third function is installed, remember to disconnect the electrical connector.
- Re-engage Your Tractor. Finally, hang the disconnected hoses above the right section of the boom. You're now ready to start the tractor, release the parking brake, and slowly back straight out.
Note: For safety's sake, never climb on a disconnected loader.
How to Install Your Yanmar YM Series Loader
When you’re ready to re-install your loader, complete the following steps.
- Position Tractor Between Mast Assembly. To attach the loader, start the engine and disengage the parking brake. Slowly drive the tractor between the mast assembly until the base of the loader mast touches the tractor mounting. Once contact is made on both sides, make sure that all levers are in the neutral position. Shut off the engine and set the parking brake.
- Release Hydraulic Pressure. Slowly move the loader control lever in all directions to release the hydraulic pressure in the system.
- Install Hydraulic Quick Couplers. You can now safely connect the hydraulic quick couplers, and—if installed—the third function electrical connector to the loader control valve. Make sure to match all four colors. Don't forget to connect the protective plugs and caps together completely.
- Position Loader for Installation. Now, start the engine at idle speed. Move the loader control lever backward to angle the loader support for installation. Then, move the loader control lever to the right until the mast fulcrum engages the pivot located on the loader mount. Push the loader lever forward to make the loader support rotate back securely against the loader bucket. After the loader support is securely engaged, move the loader control lever to the right until pressure is relieved from the front wheels. Now set the parking brake.
- Re-install Lock Pins. Locate your lock pins and reinstall. Start and run the engine so that you can now raise the boom to the appropriate height where the loader stand is above the ground. Shut the engine off again.
- Remove Clevis Pin and Hairpin Clips. Now you can remove the hairpin clips from the clevis pin on the loader stand. Place the loader stand in the folded position. Lock the stand in place with the clevis pins and install the hairpin clips.
- Re-engage Your Tractor. You can now start the engine and perform an operational check on the loader. Your loader is now ready to use!
