Yanmar Tractor Dual Brakes: Brake Turning Explained

Are you taking full advantage of the dual brakes on your Yanmar tractor? Using them allows you to reduce the turning radius, as well as keep your machine straight when pulling implements and attachments. This results in sharper turning and decreases the time it takes to get jobs done. In this guide, we walk you through how to perform brake turning using your tractor’s dual brakes.

Using Your Dual Brakes for Brake Turning

You’ll find dual brakes equipped on both Yanmar YM Series and YT3 Series tractors. The dual braking system is comprised of three main components:

  • Right Brake Pedal
  • Left Brake Pedal
  • Brake Pedal Connector Lock

To use the brakes independently, uncouple them by releasing the connector lock.

If you want to use the dual braking feature to make tighter left turns, all you have to do is depress the left brake pedal while turning left. For tighter right turns, simply depress the right pedal while turning right. It’s important to note you should always keep the brake pedals connected when moving from site to site or traveling on roads.

With the tractor in 2WD, you can make sharper turns than you can when it’s operating in 4WD. The main benefit of using dual brakes is to minimize the radius when more precise turning is needed. This helps you work more effectively and efficiently in different environments.

For any questions about dual brakes, you can find more information in your operator’s manual or make an appointment with a local Yanmar dealer.
