Yanmar Tractor Backhoe Float
If you’re always looking for ways to work more efficiently, you’re going to want to add the backhoe float to your repertoire. This little-known feature allows you to dig with more precision while having the peace of mind your tractor is firmly planted when breaking new ground. Here’s everything you need to know to take advantage of the backhoe float function.
What is Float?
When float is used on a backhoe, it equalizes hydraulic pressure on both sides of the boom cylinder. This helps keep a consistent and minimal pressure while digging, providing a level trench. It also prevents raising of the wheels and stabilizers when breaking ground.
How to Use Float
To utilize the float function, simply push the boom control all the way forward and then dig with the backhoe arm and bucket. Understanding how and when to properly use float will maximize safety when digging and the full functionality of your backhoe.
If you have questions about when to use float, consult your operator’s manual or speak with a local Yanmar dealer.
